Cope with unwanted feelings

Anxiety, stress, anger, these are all natural human feelings. But sometimes they can get too much for us to handle. Besides talk therapy, there are skills you can use to help cope with these feelings. These coping skills can be useful for a variety of situations. They will not remove these intrusive feelings, but they will make it possible for you to manage them better.

Coping Skills:

  • Muscle relaxation
  • Grounding
  • Mindfulness
  • Meditation and creative visualization
  • Cognitive Resonance

Give these skills a chance. Some may work for you, some may not. But give them chance before you dismiss them. Every skill needs practice to improve and become effective. Do not be afraid to fail a few times before you get it right. But give yourself a chance to get them right!

Change Behavior

Have you ever made a New Year’s resolution? That is a promise you have made to change your behavior. Unfortunately, we usually forget or set aside these resolutions. Changing our behavior or habits is one of the hardest and scariest things we can do. It moves us from our comfort zone into uncomfortable areas. But we can make those changes. We are not going to pick a behavior and change it. It generally takes at least two months to change a surface behavior, longer for ingrained habits. But by making a plan and sticking to it, we can help you make a change in your life.

Life Direction

Dream Analysis

Our brains will often impart information to us in ways we least expect and cannot always understand. Our resting brain can send us information in the form of dreams. Sometimes dreams are merely the brain’s way of showing our flights of fancy. Other times, they are our attempt at trying to resolve problems we could not or will not in our waking time. By analyzing our dreams we can try to figure out what our subconscious is telling us and work out problems or issues we may have hidden from ourselves.
